Bassist Koos Serierse (Rotterdam, 1936) begon zijn professionele muziekcarrière bij Toon Hermans en speelde later onder meer bij de Dutch Swing College Band, Trio Rein de Graaff en de Skymasters. Een van zijn inspiratiebronnen was bassist Ray Brown (1926-2002), onder meer bekend van zijn werk met Oscar Peterson en Ella Fitzgerald.
Serierse beschreef zichzelf op bescheiden wijze als een degelijke bassist die met zijn spel niet de intentie heeft om op de voorgrond te treden.

A great bassplayer, teacher and one of the most versatile and professional musicians I have known, has passed away after a long and brave battle with illines . Koos had the great gift to fit into any musical situation, if it was swing, bebop, free jazz, commercial studio work, it didn’t matter. He always kept his own voice, which is the trademark of a true artist. He was also a wonderful photographer with a perfect eye for the right moment. The catchy coverphoto’s on the recordings of the Rob Madna Trio and the Rein de Graaff/Dick Vennik Quartet are proof of that side of his talent. I was very fortunate to had the luxury of his solid swinging beat next to me for 23 years. Thanks so much Koos for your music, friendship and your incredible sense of humor.”
